about

Dragon Fear theoretically started on the heels of Frigid Spark. It was simply entitled Cole & Coffman 2019/20 in Matt’s music library. It sat while songs accumulated. There was a distinct divide between the tracks that were being created. Some brooding and dark and others were energetic and upbeat in nature. These are the former.

What really set this project apart was the sampling of the Didgeridoo. It became it’s own organic living moving creature that immediately brought frightening images of the evil things lurking in the dark. It began to move with heavy footfalls and wingbeats. It roared in the distance as it moved about in the world. Scott followed up with Dragon Rising, and this created the foundation of this recording. The beauty of these recordings is that although there is different instrumentation throughout the tracks, there is a consistency that ties them all together. There is a completeness to this recording. Of our work together for the past 35 years, Dragon Fear ranks as one of our favorites.
